Verano Expands Worldwide Distribution Network for Industrial Defender®
Six New Resellers Deliver Verano's Real-Time SCADA and Control Security Solution for
Mission-Critical Infrastructure around the Globe
MANSFIELD, Mass., October 17, 2006
Verano, Inc., the SCADA security company, announced today that it has expanded the worldwide distribution network for its security event management solution, Industrial Defender®, with the addition of six new resellers in EMEA and Australia.
New Industrial Defender partners include ATGS in Russia, CSE-Uniserve in Australia, Emte Sistemas in Spain, Ferranti in Belgium, Qpit in the Netherlands and Vision Automation in Italy.
As the market's first and only cybersecurity solution designed to monitor and protect the real-time control environment, Industrial Defender combines all the critical layers of security (perimeter protection, gateway virus filtering, network intrusion detection, host intrusion detection, SNMP device monitoring and security event management) and integrates them uniquely to protect and monitor the entire real-time control environment. Industrial Defender was designed specifically for power transmission and distribution, water distribution and treatment, gas and liquid pipelines, mass transit systems and power generation companies.
"Because most SCADA and DCS systems now have interconnectivity to historians and databases on the enterprise network and eventually to the Internet, and most of them were not designed with security in mind, we must bring the most comprehensive security solution to our SCADA and DCS customers," said Enzo M. Tieghi, managing director, Vision Automation. "In our research, we found that Industrial Defender was the only technology that met the specific needs of our customers and provided the critical level of security that SCADA and DCS applications need. Our success rate with Industrial Defender at initial customer sites has been tremendous, thanks to its ability to monitor and protect mission-critical infrastructure with no interruption of real-time systems."
Due to the possibility of catastrophic economic and public safety consequences, worldwide concern over cyber attacks is reaching new heights. Mission-critical, real-time control systems require protection from a security solution that can be customized to specific industry and application needs, since a lapse in real-time SCADA and control network security can potentially interrupt revenue generation or cause sweeping blackouts, water resource shortages and interference of major transportation systems.
Verano's Industrial Defender, the only security event management (SEM) solution designed specifically for the unique needs of real-time SCADA control systems and networks, provides the necessary layers of cybersecurity monitoring, protection and reporting in one integrated solution to protect against cybersecurity threats and meet regulatory requirements. The company designed Industrial Defender to protect against all forms of cyber attacks, including viruses, worms, Trojans, hackers, application exploits, rogue systems, resource starvation and unauthorized use, while ensuring the highest levels of availability. This layered approach consists of security monitoring of multi-vendor control system critical metrics, as well as perimeter protection and network monitoring to detect and prevent internal and external threats. Easy management and immediate visibility of the entire control environment enable increased efficiency and accuracy for the user.
"CSE-Uniserve is delighted to welcome Verano into our portfolio of products and services for the Australia and New Zealand regions," said Nick Yates, sales and marketing manager - Protection and Automation. "Security of SCADA and other control systems is a major issue in the critical infrastructure field, and the advances made in the Industrial Defender solution are already being appreciated by our clients."
"Industrial Defender is the key to securing legacy and new real-time SCADA and control systems, thereby protecting critical infrastructure throughout the world," said Brian Ahern, president and CEO of Verano, Inc. "Our new partners will be great assets in expanding adoption of this mission-critical security solution globally."
Industrial Defender is the technology component of Verano's full security life-cycle solution for real-time SCADA and control environments, which also includes SCADA security professional services, through Plant Data Technologies, Inc., and Industrial Defender Co-Managed Security the only managed security service for the SCADA and real-time control environment.
